The combat is designed around a gear and component system that was obviously placed into the game to push microtransactions. Gunplay is more akin to building the biggest, most overpowered weapon you can and then cutting through all opposition. If you were hoping for a survival horror experience, there’s almost none of that.Ĭhanges to the Necromorphs (and the new weapon crafting system) make the gunplay less satisfying than a traditional “Dead Space” game. Gameplay is much more geared around the action, so if your priority is “shootin’ zombies,” you might really enjoy yourself. Ellie in particular seems to have undergone character-assassination. The DS3 writers really went out of their way to ruin the dynamic that they had perfected in DS2. Isaac and Ellie return, although it’s arguable whether they’re even the same characters. The usual review is that “It’s good, but it doesn’t feel like a Dead Space game.” It’s a decent game, but the story is genuinely bad. I wouldn’t recommend spending money on DS3, although it can be a fun distraction if you have access through gamepass.
